Fishmoor

LSSA Fishmoor reservoir, used by the Lancashire School Sailing Association for sailing and paddling watersports.

Lancashire School Sailing Association members have been sailing and paddling at Fishmoor since 1981 and in this time our centre facilities have been developed to meet the ever changing needs of its user groups. This ideal sailing and paddling water allows young people to progress from beginner to further development of their seamanship skills in an enjoyable and safe environment.

We are the sole users of Fishmoor and on this site LSSA provides changing, toilet & teaching rooms, boat storage and a purpose built slipway & launching area. The centre provide four dedicated safety boats and offer a wide range of dinghies Laser Funboats for beginners, single handed Toppers to double handed Laser Picos. There are also a range of paddlesports equipment ranging from kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards.

Young people who start sailing at Fishmoor have progressed to represent their county at national youth events, organized by National School Sailing Association and Royal Yachting Association.

The watersport season at Fishmoor stretches from Easter through to September, with some more experienced groups using the reservoir during the winter months. Most of the sailing and paddling sessions are organized through our various youth user groups during school term time, usually weekday evenings. During the holiday periods the reservoir is used extensively by local schools with weekend sailing usually by arrangement with the reservoir lead.

Existing Fishmoor user groups should contact the reservoir lead directly on fishmoor@lancashireschoolsailing.org for latest reservoir and instructor availability. New groups and membership applications should direct their request in the first instance through the Association secretary secretary@lancashireschoolsailing.org
