Spade Mill

Lancashire School Sailing Association have been using Spade Mill venue since 2004 for sailing and paddling allowing young people progress from beginner to further development of their seamanship and paddling skills in an enjoyable and safe environment.

We are the sole users of Spade Mill and on this site LSSA provides boat, kayaking and canoe storage and a launching area, the centre provide a dedicated safety boat and offer a wide range of dinghies including Laser Funboats for beginners and single handed Toppers

The season at Spade Mill stretches from Easter through to September, with some more experienced groups using the reservoir during the winter months. Most of the sessions are organized through Hothersal Lodge OEC, during school term time and West Lancashire Scouts and other youth groups usually weekday evenings.

Existing Spade Mill user groups should contact the reservoir lead directly on spademill@lancashireschoolsailing.org for the latest reservoir and instructor availability. New groups and membership applications should direct their request in the first instance through the Association’s secretary secretary@lancashireschoolsailing.org
